Don’t miss MMM this Monday…we have a Thanksgiving gift for you…and Rover too! Get out!!!

This week’s training tips by Dr. Stephen Brewer were well received by our athletes on Monday. We have found that informal training tips are the most popular….more informal and interactive discussions that allow you to stay on or near the patio….and not miss the drawing! You can expect to see regular sessions on performance, psychology of performance, sports nutrition, etc. Check the “Training Tips” tab on the website for coming sessions.

Training Tips next Monday, “5 ways to reduce anxiety on race day.”…November 23 6:45 to 7:15 at Maynard’s

A graduate from the University of Vermont and trained in hypnosis and EMDR, Peggy Holt Wagner currently works as a licensed professional counselor at Canyon Ranch Resort in Tucson, Arizona.  She has worked with persons coming from a variety of cultural backgrounds while living on Cayman Islands and U.S. Native American reservations and in a range of settings such as alternative schools, prisons, hospitals, and drug and alcohol treatment centers.  Peggy, along with Canyon Ranch’s medical director, Stephen Brewer, have written a book titled The Everest Principle which will be out Feb. 1st, of next year.  The book is about an integrative approach to peak performance.  Beyond spending her available free time in the Arizona outdoors with her horses and dogs, she loves pursuing her own athletic, personal and professional “Everests”.

Peggy’s articles, “Game Day jitters” and “5 Ways to Reduce Anxiety on Race Day” are now on the Active.com. Check them out.

Are you new to walking/running? Want some expert advice? Check the “Training Tips” tab on our website for… Meet Me At Maynard’s Training Program…”Beginning Fitness for Walkers and Runners”

Five reasons why you should be a MMM volunteer:

5.         Your “I’m worthy” meter is not recording

4.         You’ve noticed that the same people volunteer nearly every Monday

3.         Your mother-in-law wants you to visit on Mondays

2.         You want to earn your MMM t-shirt (or your second one)

1.         You want to be one of the reasons that MMM is around for a LONG time!

Please send us an email, and let us know you can volunteer once or twice a month, or just try volunteering one time meetmeatmaynards@gmail.com If you can give up your walk/run every once in a while that would be great. If not, then just volunteer until 6:00.

THANK YOU!!!

Thanks for keeping our downtown beautiful!…Several of you took trash bags on your walk again this week, and downtown is more beautiful because of your effort. We will continue to “clean up on downtown” on the third Monday of each month.

Safety is our priority! You must walk/run with a flashlight or headlight. It is very important that we be highly visible and that we all obey the traffic signals. It’s not a race…it’s a social event. Let’s make it a safe one. Bring any old flashlight, or get your official Meet Me at Maynard’s flashlight at Maynard’s Market for only $5.99 (including batteries).

Say thank you to our 2010 MMM sponsors:

The Running Shop/ Worldly Soles

Carondelet Health Network

TMC Healthcare

Tucson Electric Power

Thanks to our sponsors, we will have new incentives to reach 10 walk/runs. Are you already a website listed athlete (X10 MMM Mondays)? If so, you are already eligible! If not, this will give you something to work toward. Plus…don’t miss the surprise coming Monday…for everyone…and “everydog” J!
