Monday was a record-breaking day…We set an all-time attendance record of 295, and surpassed a total attendance of more than 10,000 in less than a year of Meet Me at Maynards Mondays. Congrats MMM Athletes!

We had standing room only for the Humanities Week presentation on “Running in Antiquity”…Thanks go to the U of A and the Department of Humanities for a very interesting (and fun!) presentation about athletics in ancient Greece. I’ll bet you didn’t know that a gymnasium is a “place to be naked”. That’s just one of the fascinating facts we learned from Professor Mike Lippman. There were more than 35 people in the audience, including several who came to MMM just to hear him.

EARLY START TIME FOR First Anniversary “Rock and Stroll” on April 12…You won’t want to miss this grand celebration… sponsored by TMC Healthcare…four miles of live music, food, drink, and gifts. Be one of the first 300 returning MMM Athletes (or the first 200 newbies) and receive five MMM bucks for use in tipping bands and for purchases in participating businesses…good April 12 only. Mark your calendars NOW!! You may want to get off work early, as check-in begins at 4:30, with walkers leaving at 5:30 and runners at 6:00. Of course, you may begin at any time after 5:30, as that is when the music will begin. See a draft of the participant handbook on the website. Keep checking as it may change as we get closer to the event. After 4:30 you can park in the Pennington Street garage for only $2.00.

O2 MODERN FITNESS/FITWORKS will hold its first team ride for cyclists on April 4 at 9:30 am…You will find them at 186 E. Broadway, just west of 5^th Ave. In fact, we walk and run past their front door on Monday nights. Join them to learn more about “Team O2 Fitworks”. You will love this no-drop ride of approximately 45 miles, depending on the level of riders who attend. You will head out Ajo and circle McCain Loop…it’s a beautiful route.

Join Rick and others at Maynards at 8:45 AM this coming Sunday. Beg, borrow (don’t steal) a bike and be there. Helmets are mandatory! The ride will be about 13 miles…then hang around for coffee and other yummy stuff. There you go…a new sport and new friends. It doesn’t get better than that.
