TEP LIGHTS THE WAY WITH BLINKY LIGHTS FOR ALL MMM ATHLETES
In September the evenings will cool, but with the heat goes the light. Thanks to TEP we will have new blinky lights for every MMM Athlete. When they arrive we will give away the first 500 lights. Then they will be available for loan every Monday until spring. Take one from the loan box, wear it for a walk/run, replace it for next week. What a beautiful sight it will be…blinking lights on the backs of more than twice as many walkers and runners as there were in 2009. Thank you TEP for keeping us safe.

Don’t miss the Big Kahuna, a family-friendly evening of festivity in Downtown’s historic Entertainment District. Toss on your favorite flowered fashions, OR YOUR MMM T-SHIRT and join the fun. Take a pocket full of our MMM wooden nickels (found at our check-in table every Monday) and give them away to people you meet. Spread the MMM message, “Get out!”
Enjoy activities for all ages, as well as prizes, giveaways and merchant discounts. The Downtown Tucson Partnership, Fourth Avenue Merchants Association, Main Gate Square and Entertainment District businesses are collaborating to showcase the diversity of performing arts venues, restaurants, shops and other establishments that make up the district. Many events are free.
Eat/Drink/Shop: Merchants will be offering “235″ specials in honor of Tucson’s birthday. Look for the “235″ signs for items that are $2.35 or $23.50 or discounted 23.50 percent.
Play: It’s a beach party! You may be surprised to find an enormous sandcastle birthday cake, Gilligan lookalike contest, Tiki party, hot coconut toss, hula hoop revue, chalk art, hot rod show, dunking booths, giant water slide, live island music and more.

START TRAINING FOR THE FALL…It is not too soon to start preparing for some fall races. You certainly don’t want to miss these two:
Saguaro National Park Labor Day 8-Miler…Come run the hills of Saguaro: our rolling 8 mile course loops its way through a beautiful cactus forest at Saguaro National Park East in the foothills of the scenic Rincon Mountains. A 2 mile fitness walk &run is also offered, covering a flatter course & suitable for strollers & families. A $5 National Park Service permit is included in your entry fee.

Tucson Medical Center Get Moving Tucson… The 6th Annual Get Moving Tucson is scheduled to take place in Downtown Tucson on Saturday morning, October 9th. Start time is 8:00 AM for both races. This is the 31st running of the annual SAR 10-miler and 5K running race & non-competitive family fitness walk. Thanks to the new title sponsor: Tucson Medical Center.

PARKING…is always free after 5:00 PM in the Madden Media lot, 345 E. Toole, just west of Maynards. You can park in the Pennington Street Garage for a $2 flat rate after 5:00 PM. Keep in mind that street parking is free after 5:00.
