MONDAY!!!

Please join us on Monday by taking a bag and glove (provided) to pick up unsightly trash on our route. Return your bag of trash and be entered into a special drawing…just for trashers!!

Summer volunteers needed!!

Please let us know if you can volunteer this summer. Some of us will be away part of the summer, and we need you. You will be helping MMM be strong, and you will have a very good time with some very good people. AND you’ll get three raffle tickets for volunteering. Now that’s a nice deal! Parking during streetcar construction

All the parking garages will be open and accessible from detours. Traffic coming from the east will be detoured to Toole Avenue westbound and 6th avenue is two-way during construction.

From the south, enter Downtown by going northbound on either 6th Avenue or Stone Avenue. Traffic coming from the north can also enter Downtown on Stone Avenue. The easiest parking remains at: (1) Centro Garage, located just as you enter downtown from the east; (2) The Depot Garage, located below the Martin Luther King building (straight across 5th from HC); (3) the Pennington Garage, accessed via Pennington Street from either Stone Avenue or 6th Avenue.; and (4) La Placita garage on Jackson Street.

There is some construction at the Ronstadt Transit Center, and the contractor will be using the gravel lot on Toole to the northwest of the Depot for staging. They have put up a fence to enclose their equipment and supplies, but there will still be public parking outside the fence.

The 4th Annual Agave Fest is upon us!

This year’s event features tastings of over 40 agave-derived spirits including tequilas and mezcals; sotols and more, plus samples of signature agave cocktails from Tucson’s best bartenders, award-winning, authentic street tacos, mariachis and live music from Latin Funk Project.

Eight of Tucson’s most respected bartenders (including “our” Michael from the
Lobby Bar) will face-off on the Hotel Congress Tequila Tower in an iron-chef style competition to win the judges’ favor with the creation of a cocktail using a secret ingredient.   The main rule? NO MARGARITAS ALLOWED! The all-star judging panel includes celebrity chef Janos Wilder, Matt Russell, Plaza Liquors Owner Mark Thompson, and surprise guest judges! Award for the restaurant bartender who wins the people’s choice vote for their signature cocktail.

Cost of $25/person includes 12 tastings, light appetizers and a raffle ticket for amazing prizes. Hotel Congress’ specialty tacos are $2/piece. Tickets are available online at www.hotelcongress.com, at the Hotel Congress front desk, or Plaza Liquors (2642 N. Campbell) Ticket quantities limited…get yours early!

The next time you see Donna Lewandowski be sure to tell her she rocks!! The overwhelmingly successful (and fun too) scavenger hunt drew 72 teams and 254 hunters. The feedback was all positive! Donna had the great idea and then she carried it out to perfection! Donna wants everyone to thank Activate Tucson for sponsoring the hunt and TMC for their overall sponsorship. Our first adventure with the “Walkout” at MMLE…

It’s a 1.5-mile walking workout. We looked kind of funny, but we had a great time and a pretty good workout, especially the stair repeats at the end. Thanks to Dr. Steven Wool (Rock the Ages shirt) for being our first
“Walk with a Doc” leader!

The rest of the crowd had the options of a 3.3-mile walk or run,
a 1.5-mile walk, free Boot Camp and T’ai Chi...not to mention
the drawing and the discounts. What a night!

It was a chilly evening for sure, but we had a ball. 109 hearty folks turned out for the walk/run and lots of us were in Armitage after, enjoying their extended happy hour with our MMLE hand stamp. RA drew some of our folks with their offer of a 15% discount on food. We had gift certificates to Firebirds, RA, Frost and Pandora. It was a great night in spite of the weather!!

Yes, it was chilly and windy. But we had a great start anyway.

Five miles of downtown streets will close to traffic and open to the people. Walk, bicycle, run…get there anyway you wish. This is the third annual and you will have the pleasure of the company of more

than 15,000 Tucsonans. Sounds like fun!!

We need people to work a morning shift or an afternoon shift at nearly 50 intersections along the route. Main duties are to help participants and residents but you are also able to make your intersection fun and lively! You’ll be given sidewalk chalk to decorate your area and you’re welcome to bring bubbles, hula hoops, frisbees – anything that you think will contribute to the exciting Cyclovia environment.
